If Saudi Arabia takes the gold medal in the oil reserve competition, then who takes the silver? The silver medal goes to the Canadian Oil Sands in Alberta with 175 billion barrels of oil reserves.
Green Car publisher applauds Honda
(San Luis Obispo Tribune) Honda Motor Co. says it has developed the first diesel passenger car engine capable of meeting California's tough 2009 air-quality standards, one that produces almost none of the emissions that have sullied the fuel's image. The "super-clean" diesel's emissions will be no greater than those of a gasoline engine, Honda said.
Doyle unveils 'bioindustry' proposal
(Milwaukee Business Journal) Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle unveiled plans to grow bioindustry and renewable energy in Wisconsin through a $450 million public and private investment strategy in renewable fuel sources. Doyle's proposal, announced Monday morning, will be included in his budget next year if he is re-elected in November.
Agrenco to invest US$100mn in 3 biodiesel plants
(Brazil) Dutch agribusiness group Agrenco and two Brazilian agriculture cooperatives together plan to invest US$100mn to build three biodiesel plants in Brazil, Agrenco said in a statement. The plants, which are due to start operations by the end of 2007, will have combined capacity to produce 380,000 tonnes of biodiesel a year.
Ted Turner tells WTO of benefits in biofuel use
(International Herald Tribune) Ted Turner, the founder of CNN, has a secret ingredient for rescuing the suspended global trade talks - the renewable energy sources known as biofuels. Turner told a public forum Monday at the World Trade Organization that biofuels - liquid fuels made from plants and trees, including biodiesel for trucks and generators and ethanol for cars and cooking - could do more than fight problems like pollution and global warming.
