Modern, Clean Diesel Technology Made Better with Biodiesel from DaimlerChrysler
Modern, clean diesel engines will be a cornerstone of America''s energy solutions, and clean, renewable biodiesel fuel will be critical to the success of diesel-powered vehicles in the U.S. market, a DaimlerChrysler executive says. DaimlerChrysler will continue to expand its lineup of diesel-powered vehicles in the coming months, at the same time it broadens its programs to educate the American public on the benefits of home-grown biodiesel fuel.

Scottish farmers can profit from the need for renewable energy
After a few depressed years, farming appears to be gaining some confidence again in spite of changes in the EU farm regime which has removed subsidies from production and may eventually lead to the removal of subsidies totally within the next few years. Many people are asking why. We have all heard about diversification on the farm, leading to such developments as farm tourism and farm shops. The boom in organic food and local or regional food demand has also provided an uplift, although in real cash terms they have only made a peripheral gain.

Biodiesel-powered buses available for schools
The biodiesel buses will be available to Christchurch schools through two sustainable transport education programmes ‘From a to b – Billy Bus’ and ‘Beat the Rush’, developed and implemented by Environment Canterbury. ‘From a to b Billy Bus’ caters for years 1-3 students. The programme focuses on the link between transport and its effects on the environment as well as safety and how to use bus services. ‘Beat the Rush’, a programme for years 5-8 students, steps up a level. It concentrates on sustainable transport options, energy use, and promoting the use of cleaner ways to get from one place to another.

Sir Richard Branson has gone green with his Virgin Group's launch of an investment fund for environmentally-friendly fuels
Sir Richard said the new Virgin Fuels business will invest up to $400m (£214m) in renewable energy initiatives over the next three years. The first deal saw Sir Richard back California-based Cilion, which was formed in June and will make bioethanol from corn.Cilion plans to build seven plants by 2009 producing 440 million gallons per year. The first three plants are expected to be in California.

Farmers told to grow bio-fuel crops
Farmers should grow more of bio-fuel crops in order to combat the fuel crisis our country is facing, said MLA B K Sangameshwar. Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the bio-fuel development training programme organised by the Department of Agriculture here recently, he elaborated the importance and need of growing crops that would produce bio-fuel.

Indonesian government urged to promote incentives for bio-fuel
Proponents of bio-fuel called on the Indonesian government Monday to eliminate bureaucratic red tape and provide more incentives for companies to invest in the renewable energy source. At the same time, they warned, the government must continue to increase investment in and production of fossil fuels, including the sluggish oil sector, as bio-fuels will alone not meet all of Indonesia's energy needs.
