THV Extra: Farmers Push For More Bio-Diesel Use
A fenced in lot in downtown Mexico, Mo., is full of small buildings, pipes and partially constructed storage tanks. It may not look like much, but soon it will be turning out tens of thousand of barrel of bio-diesel a year. It’s all made from soybeans. Arkansas farmers touring the facility like the idea especially since soybeans are a major crop on The Natural State. Farmer Robert Stobaugh says, "We're looking for ways to enhance the income of our farms. Right now, it's pretty tough times in Arkansas." That, along with the rising price of oil, could mean a good time to build more bio-diesel plants in Arkansas.

Energy could be Mich.'s future
Gov. Jennifer Granholm introduced a new plan on Tuesday to improve the environment while boosting Michigan's economy. The governor said a $250,000 grant program will be used to either produce new or convert old pumps into what she hopes will be 1,000 alternative fuel pumps by 2008. In order to initiate this new form of environmentally friendly fuel and make it a feasible option for people to access, government support is necessary. Granholm is doing an exceptional job encouraging and introducing this new fuel option to our state.

P8-b biofuel plant to rise
PNOC-Alternative Fuels Corp., a newly-formed unit of state-owned Philippine National Oil Co., yesterday said it plans to establish an P8.2-billion biofuel project in a possible joint venture with Samsung Corp. of South Korea. PNOC-AFC said it was looking at Samsung as strategic partner in the project after signing an agreement with the Korean company to prepare a feasibility study on the project. PNOC-AFC hopes to put up an integrated jatropha plantation over a 120,000-hectare area to feed the biofuel refinery plant, which is estimated to cost P2.23 billion. The plantation, meanwhile, will require an investment of P6 billion. Energy fuel can be extracted from the seeds of jatropha, an indigenous plant.

Biodiesel Coming to Rockport Maritime Farms!
Maritime Energy will be offering on-road biodiesel at our new Maritime Farms’ convenience store located on Rt. 1 in Rockport. We recently completed the construction of a new 3,168 sq ft convenience store which is open for business. The new pump and tank work will commence after Labor Day. Upon completion, customers will have the option of choosing a domestically produced product from renewable resources, biodiesel.

Vietnam plans to run vehicles on biofuel by 2020
ietnam is drafting a scheme to step up bio-fuel production and application in the transport industry to ensure energy security and protect the environment. Under the scheme, drafted by the Science and Technology Department and valid through 2020, Vietnam will until 2010 raise public awareness of bio-fuel, access advance foreign technologies, build infrastructure needed to distribute the fuel, and produce 30 million liters of ethanol and 20 million liters of biodiesel on a trial basis.

A&M to join state in bid for biofuel facility
Texas will soon be vying for a federally funded multi-million dollar research center focusing on biofuel technology, and the Texas A&M University System is expected to take the lead role in the proposal, Board of Regents Chairman John White said Thursday during an energy summit. The announcement took place as professors, politicians and businesspeople gathered at the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum's conference center on the A&M campus to discuss and promote the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

Envo Diesel To Be Available At Selected Stations In Due Course
Envo Diesel, the made-in Malaysia biofuel comprising five percent palm oil and 95 percent diesel (B5), will be made available at selected pump stations soon. Envo Diesel will also be used by government vehicles in Putrajaya by the end of this year, said the Ministry of Finance's 2006/2007 Economic Report. The fuel will also be introduced to selected transport fleet operators, heavy machinery operators as well as power generation and industrial users, the report said in a special article.

Touting benefits of biodiesel alternative
Soybeans aren't just for eating anymore. Just ask Joseph Logan, president of the Ohio Farmers Union and a Trumbull County farmer, whose crops include 100 acres of the versatile little legumes. He'll tell you. Blending oil made from soybeans with diesel fuel results in a biodiesel alternative that's friendlier to the environment and good for Ohio's businesses and farmers. Ohio produces about 200 million bushels of soybeans a year, he said.
